What was once a humble under-stairs cupboard has been transformed into a charming and characterful downstairs cloakroom, designed to feel like a little piece of Edwardian history. Original-style Thomas Crapper sanitaryware and accessories create an authentic, almost museum-like feel, while the playful addition of the restored L P Knightley sign brings personality and a sense of nostalgia to this unique space.

THE PROJECT
Creating the cloakroom required careful space planning, extending the existing cupboard slightly into the kitchen and adjusting the staircase to gain the additional space needed. A selection of original Thomas Crapper sanitaryware and accessories was sourced to achieve the authentic period feel, while an L P Knightley sign discovered at a reclamation yard was sandblasted and repainted, adding a playful finishing touch.

Neatly tucked beneath the stairs, bespoke storage creates a practical ledge for displaying the beautifully crafted branded accessories.
